Ramazan Moon not sighted in Saudi Arabia Ramadan 2023 Live update: Moon sighted in Pakistan, first Ramadan on Thursday   PESHAWAR: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee headed by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir has announced the Ramazan moon has been sighted in the country, resultantly the first Ramadan will be observed on Thursday. The committee met in Peshawar on Wednesday for Ramadan moon-sighting. The meeting was held at the building of Auqaf Department to announce the beginning of the holy month in Pakistan. Apart from this, district and zonal committees of the body also met at the respective offices on Wednesday. Moreover, the Pakistan meteorological department (PMD) announced that there was a strong possibility of moon sighting on Wednesday as the weather forecast is clear. “The weather is expected to be fair and partly cloudy in most parts of the country during the Ramadan moon sighting time.”

THE GREAT EARTHQUAKY IN PAKISTAN ISLAMABAD (AP) — A strong earthquake rattled Pakistan’s capital Islamabad and other parts of the country on Tuesday, sending panicked residents fleeing from their homes. The U.S. Geological Survey said the center of the magnitude 6.5 quake was located 40 kilometers (25 miles) south-southeast of Jurm, Afghanistan in Afghanistan's Hindukush region. The quake was felt across Pakistan. The country's meteorological office said the earthquake was a magnitude 7.7. There were no immediate reports of damages or injuries.

  The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday granted PTI Chairman Imran Khan protective bail in nine cases registered against him in Lahore and Islamabad, eight of which were registered under terrorism charges. Out of the eight terrorism cases, five were registered in Islamabad — including two for vandalism at the Islamabad Judicial Complex and high court — and three in Lahore — including two for violence on March 8 and obstructing police from arresting Imran in the Zaman Park operation. A two-judge LHC bench granted Imran protective bail in the terrorism cases registered in Lahore till March 27. For the cases in Islamabad, he was granted protective bail till March 24. PTI leader Farrukh Habib also tweeted the development. Separately, a single LHC bench granted the PTI chief protective bail till March 27 in a case registered at the Sarwar Road police station following the death of PTI worker Ali Bilal.   Musarrat Cheema, a politician belonging to Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, told Zubair Bin Safdar the party chief will leave his residence in Lahore’s Zaman Park area shortly. A two-member bench has been constituted in the Lahore High Court to hear Khan’s appeal. Zubair Bin Safdar, reporting from outside Khan’s residence in Lahore, said hundreds of his supporters would accompany his convoy to the court. “Four new cases have been registered here in Lahore against Imran Khan. And that is pertaining to the resistance that his supporters showed towards the police when they came to arrest him,” Hyder said.
